TEMA 3D

TEMA 3D produces 3D coordinates from a set of 2D image sequences where the different sensors are placed at different locations. To coordinate the image sequences in time, the cameras can either be synchronized during imaging or they can have a common time base tagged to each frame in each sequence.

To provide the spatial calibration, four or preferably five fixed targets are needed in any one frame that can be seen by all cameras. Then the x, y, z coordinates of these points are loaded into the program and each camera location is back calculated, knowing the camera focal lengths.

Other features are:

  • No limit on the number of sensors; the more there are, the higher the accuracy.
  • Inconsistent data can be rejected.
  • Lens calibration capability is available as an option.

With this software and with as few as two cameras and four fixed targets, a full 3D analysis can be carried out on any number of moving targets.

All the other standard features of the basic 2D software are available in this module:

  • Handles high-speed and standard film and video images.
  • Handles obscured points.
  • Reads FDRS, HDRS and serial timing codes.
  • Includes multiple tracking algorithms.
  • Outputs in graphs or a spreadsheet format.

TEMA Wand Calibration is the brand new calibration tool for 3D analysis of crash tests, sled tests
and pedestrian tests in the automotive industry. The use of wand calibration will increase accuracy
and ensure that the results acquired from the analysis are accurate enough to draw the correct
conclusions.

By combining multiple high-speed cameras and TEMA Wand Calibration it is possible to do a
complete 3D motion analysis of any high-speed test in the automotive industry.
The wand calibration replaces the traditional 3D test preparations, i.e. lens calibration and camera
orientation.
