Cloudberry Aero CM-6900 MIL Series

Rugged up to 52-Port Managed Gigabit/10Gigabit Ethernet Switch

Introduction

Rugged up to 52-Port Managed Gigabit/10Gigabit Ethernet Switch with optional PTP GMC, TC/SC and router capability for Aerospace and Defense applications with RJ45 and Fiber Optic configurability.

The new Cloudberry CM-6900 Series is a commercial off the shelf (COTS), fully managed Layer 2/3 Ethernet switch with optional embedded Cisco 5921 Embedded Services Router (ESR) IOS and network time server capability (IEEE 1588 PTP, NTP, IRIG, 1PPS), in a rugged housing. It is specifically designed to provide reliable, high-performance connectivity for extremely demanding size, weight and power (SWaP) constraints in harsh demanding environments (e.g. high altitude, extreme shock & vibration, extended temperatures, humidity, dust & water exposure, noisy EMI, dirty power)..

The CM-6900 is an ideal solution for forward-fit and retrofit applications. It provides a technology advantage for deploying data, video and voice services virtually anywhere LAN/WAN connectivity may be required, especially in mobile, airborne, ground, manned or unmanned vehicle and sensor applications. With routing speeds of up to 500 mbps for the Cisco 5921 ESR package or full wire speeds for OnTime Networks’ own router package, the unit offers a powerful network solution.

Its performance is optimized for a large numbers of IP-enabled embedded devices, such as computers, cameras, sensors, and command-and-control equipment, deployed in manned and unmanned system platforms at the network edge.

The CM-6200 supports the latest generation of IPv6 switching, allowing it to meet the most challenging requirements for next generation DoD networks. IPv6 provides improved network security and reliability, while support for more network addresses allows for a greater number of interconnected devices. Additional management and configuration features include quality of service (QoS) prioritization, VLANs, LAG, SNMP, RSTP, VRRP, IGMP and traffic policing, providing customers the flexibility to meet their unique networking requirements.

With up to 48 gigabit Ethernet and four 10 gigabit Ethernet ports, the CM-6900 provides a robust network routing architecture with the performance, security, quality of service (QoS), high availability and manageability that customers expect from Cisco IOS-based technologies. The familiar Cisco IOS router software and the Cisco-like CLI interface on the switch management side minimize training requirements and provide extensive support for IPv4/IPv6 routing protocols, IP multicasting, Radio Aware Routing (RAR), Dynamic Link Exchange Protocol (DLEP), remote VoIP, Firewall/IPS/IDS, Mobile Ad Hoc Networking (MANET) and Mobile IP routing for connectivity in Comms on the Move (COTM) applications.

Its modular rugged design, enclosed in a military rugged 19” housing, requires no active cooling and provides a number of connector options. The unit feature optional military-grade power supply for aircraft (MIL-STD-704F) and ground (MIL-STD-1275D) vehicle use, as well as MIL-STD-461F EMI/EMC filtering. Port quantity is in blocks of 12 which may be either Gigabit ethernet on RJ45 or Fiber Optic.

The CM-6900 supports the latest generation of IPv6 switching, allowing it to meet the most challenging requirements for next generation DoD networks.

Optionally, the CM-6900-MIL can also be a reliable and accurate PTP Grand Master Clock (GMC) or Transparent Clock/Slave Clock (TC/SC) fulfilling IEEE 1588 STD 2002 (v1) and IEEE 1588 STD 2008 (v2). Both PTPv1 and PTPv2 Slave clocks can co-exist in the same network by using the PTP version translator feature of the CM-6900-MIL platform. The switch can also act as a NTP Network Time Server (NTS) and provide GPS emulation output both when enabled as a GMC and when operating as a TC/SC. GPS emulation means Pulse Per Second (PPS) output signals via dedicated connectors (TTL)as well as NMEA telegrams via the network connection or RS232 Further, the unit can distribute multiple IRIG-B (AM/DC) and 10MHz outputs via dedicated connectors on the front of the unit.

This fully managed, Layer 2/3 Gigabit switch provides a powerful set of networking features, including support for IPv4 multicast traffic filtering according to static filters or IGMP snooping, Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), port control (speed / mode / statistics, flow control), Quality of Service (QoS) traffic prioritization, Link Aggregation (802.3ad), SNMP v1/v2/v3 management, secure authentication (802.1X, ACLs, Web/CLI), redundancy (RSTP/MSTP) and port mirroring.

The unit can be equipped with a number of different power supply options, from 115-230VAC to 28VDC redundant power input with polarity protection and power hold-up (option) support.

Key Features:

Time Distribution: The CM-6900-MIL Series is available as a reliable and accurate (< 20 nanosecond) PTP Grand Master Clock and Transparent/Slave Clock according to IEEE 1588 Std 2002 (PTPv1) or IEEE 1588 Std 2008 (PTPv2) standards, as well as NTP Network Time Server (NTS)

GPS: The CM-6900-MIL Series with PTP Grand Master Clock capability contains a built-in high accuracy GPS receiver.

Interoperability: The CM-62900-MIL Series supports all relevant IEEE Ethernet standards. Interoperability with other PTP devices is ensured based on extensive testing.

Version Translation: The CM-6900-MIL Series, with its unique embedded PTP version translator feature, allows Slave Clocks of both PTPv1 and PTPv2 to co-exist in the same network. The need for PTP version translation is driven by the fact that PTPV1 (IEEE 1588 2002) is not backward compatible with PTPv2 (IEEE 1588 2008). Both PTP versions cannot co-exist in the same network unless a PTP version translator is used. OnTime Networks offers a cost efficient solution by introducing a PTP version translation feature into its products which helps to protect your PTPv1 investments. With the embedded PTP version translation you can use your legacy PTPv1 equipment alongside your new PTPv2 equipment without the need to upgrade or change configuration of old PTPv1 equipment.

Management: The CM-6900-MIL Series offer full management based on HTTP, telnet, CLI or SNMP v1/v2/v3.

Quality of Service: The CM-6900-MIL series offers advanced traffic shaping and quality of service techniques.

Filtering: The CM-6900-MIL Series offers advanced filtering capabilities. Multicast filters can be set on the switch, based on IGMP snooping or by manual configuration of static filters.

VLAN: The CM-6900-MIL offers port based VLAN (static) or dynamic VLAN according to IEEE802.1Q are supported.

Security: The CM-6900-MIL series supports to Enable/disable ports, MAC based port security, Port based network access control (802.1x), VLAN (802.1Q) to segregate and secure network traffic, Radius centralized password management and SNMPv3 encrypted authentication and access security.

IRIG-B: The CM-6900-MIL Series with Grand Master Clock capability provides GPS emulation (NMEA and PPS 3.3V, 5V or 10V), as well as IRIG-B 002 or IRIG-B 122 outputs and 10MHz reference capabilities, when equipped with a high quality OCXO.

Complance: The CM-6900-MIL Series is ready to be compliant to current integrated Network Enhanced Telemetry (iNET) standards.

Software: The CM-6900-MIL series is delivered with detailed application notes as well as specific software.
