XMA - Airborne Data Acquisition Unit

XMA Flight Test Data Acquisition Unit

XMA Flight Test Data Acquisition Unit

Introduction

45 years of experience in flight test instrumentation and telemetry solutions have enabled Safran Data Systems to design and build technology that performs reliably in the most challenging environments and meet evolving needs in the industry. Their equipment is the first choice with customers worldwide.

With its compact and ruggedized design, the XMA series from Safran Data Systems is the ideal fit for remote data acquisition in those harsh and tight spaces found in aircraft. It is the perfect candidate for network telemetry applications and remote acquisitions, reducing the length of intrusive wires by acquiring data closer to the sensors. The XMA also allows data recording, data processing, GPS localization and data transmission. It has the smallest size/channel types ratio, and provides optimized module sets for a large number of data type acquisitions, all with state-of-the-art accuracy. Full status and health information of the unit is remotely available for live monitoring

Multiple XMA units can be networked, and their output recorded using a flight test data recorder such as the MDR, or broadcast using an airborne telemetry transmitter to a ground station.  The XMA OBP provides onboard processing that can be used to reduce the size of data budget, whilst the eZ Software used to configure, process, and decommutate.
